Welcome to My World

Sooooo..... by popular request (and by the subtle peer pressure from everyone else's blog), I have finally succumbed to the idea of a blog. Here you will find my random rants and raves about the ills and failures of life and society by others, as well as praises, shout-outs, and affirmations to those people trying to make it happen in today's world. And from time to time I may come on here to ask for advice from my fellow bloggers.

So sit down, relax, grab one of grandma's mason jars filled with ICE COLD lemonade (I don't do "red" Kool-Aid) open up a pack of Teddy Grahams and enjoy the show.

Feel free to suggests topics for me to comment on as well.

PEACE & BLESSINGS!

i really enjoyed the program... i thought it gave more insight into the african american community than other programs and special that i've seen... of course it could have been better but i appreciate what it was. I agree there should have been more history involed we should have had a back story leading up to the present. i feel that story should have started with reconstruction and touched major events that lead to the present...including things such as land grants, voting, boycotts, infringement, tuskegee syphilis experiment, to the jena 6. There is a reason for the Anger that we as african americans have and to be honest i dont think most americans black and white know why... nor do they know the extent that these occurances had and still have on the state of the black community.

It would have been more effective if it were a true mini series. it should have lasted the entire month and looked at the plight of blacks in the major cities of the US. this would have showed the true extent of the devistation as well as the success.

i personally believe that the section on education was downplayed... the truth is for every black person that graduates from college there are 20 that didn't finish high school... we are sending our kids in a trap where they become further and further behind. the public and private school system has in many ways become a joke and a game.

yes there are still more negative pictures of blacks on tv and its shamefull.. the prisons are overcrowded with blacks... these were things we already knew. what we should have been talking about is a ways to change this. and i think it starts with revamping the educational system. because more children are being left behind with "no child left behind"
